EGA, derived from 'Iga-ri', our founder's hometown in a serene fishing village on South Korea's south coast. It's where his passion for building and creating flourished within his tight-knit community. This origin story is the cornerstone of EGA's values and mission to infuse every project with humanity.
HOW IT ALL STARTED
EGA's journey began in 1993 when our founder constructed a quaint family home single-handedly in a coastal town on Jeju Island, South Korea. Built from scratch on vacant land, each volcanic rock meticulously placed to define the property, this marked the inception of our company. Despite challenges such as a leaky roof and imperfect walls, this inaugural project, adorned with its distinctive red letterbox, represented both home and the initial stride in our journey, fostering invaluable lessons.
Roger
Our Founder
Roger’s journey is one of hard work, determination, and a real passion for great design and quality construction. After moving to Australia from South Korea as a mechanical engineer in his early thirties with little more than a strong will to succeed, Roger set out to build a better future for himself and his family.
In a short time, Roger learned English, earned a diploma in landscape design, and juggled running restaurants and cafes alongside his landscaping business. His entrepreneurial spirit and creative eye soon led him to expand his skills, moving into construction, carpentry and landscaping.
Roger’s dedication to craftsmanship, combined with a commitment to honesty and hard work, has earned him a strong reputation as someone clients can trust to get the job done right. Whether it’s landscaping, construction, or interior carpentry, Roger’s focus is always on delivering quality results and making his clients’ visions a reality.
Billy
Landscaper & Tradesman
Billy is a devoted and hardworking member of EGA who transitioned from Ireland to Australia five years ago, in pursuit of new opportunities and the Aussie Sun. With a strong work ethic and a natural curiosity, Billy embraces every challenge with enthusiasm and a willingness to learn. Previously having worked as a youth justice officer, his resilience and commitment to the community is evident in his good-natured personality and inherent trustworthiness that makes him a valued team member. He is known for going above and beyond to support and uplift those around him. Billy's positive attitude and eagerness to contribute in each project, makes him a standout asset in EGA and a great advocate for the business with existing and new clients.
Ollie
Landscaper & Tradesman
Ollie is a dedicated member of EGA with a deep-rooted passion for the outdoors and Australian native flora, honed through his upbringing in Australia. With a formal background in interior architecture, he brings a keen eye for design, construction, and landscaping. Known for his creative spirit and versatility, Ollie excels in integrating aesthetic vision with practical execution, ensuring every project meets the highest standards. EGA and clients alike appreciate Ollie for his gentle demeanour and his ability to work collaboratively with the team to ensure the best outcomes are met for each project.
